Hello, I found your website through the Intentional Communities website. I am writing b/c my family and I will be in CR Jan 12-28, and are inerested in visiting your community and the surrounding area, if possible.
A little background about us: we began our quest towards self-sufficiency five years ago. Since then, we have read a tremendous number of books and played with the knowledge hands on a great deal. While we are always improving our techniques, we have become quite proficient in gardening, dairying, working with small animals, sewing, carpentry, woodcraft, etc etc (I've listed the collective skills of both my husband and I). We are now ready to move to a more permanent location to set up our long term homestead, where we plan to be totally off grid, use alternative building techniques (probably earth bag construction), and be as generally self sufficient as possible. While we are still unsure of where that location will be, CR is looking better and better. Our location will have to have a good water source and decent soil, and will need to be very close to an extensive area of woodland reserve, as we are avid nature lovers and spend a great deal of our time hiking, backpacking, etc. (of course farm work comes first :) We are strongly considering leaving the states for many reasons, but mainly the political climate here. We would like to visit your community because it is extremely important to us to be near a group of likeminded, consciously aware people, preferrably with children, as this is the type of enviroment we want out children to grow up around (we currently have a 1yr old son and plan to have at least one more child). We are not at this point seriously interested in actually joining an intentional community (although this could change if the circumstances were just right) but would like to live very nearby to one where we are comfortable with the people.

We will be backpacking and traveling by bus and foot, and will have our son. We will not need any lodging if it is not available or affordable, but may be interested in purchasing a meal and/or fresh veggies/fruits/herbs if you have them for sale.
